Since I have some free time at lunch I wanted to post pics of our budgies. We currently have 4 and when they get going they sound like at least 50. They love Disney cartoons, and (unfortunately) Sponge Bob cartoons and any wildlife shows with song birds in them, just not big birds of prey.

They also love to watch my fish, and as their current cage home is the living room right next to the tank, they watch it often-and get real quiet when I feed the fish.

From the top left to the right is bright blue girl named Petra with her honey a dark lavender-blue male named Teetsa (Serbian for bird), next is close up of Petra, followed by a close up of our youngest bright blue and white, and biggest half English-half regular budgie named Disco (aka MOOSE), below him is a photo of him sitting in the cage watching the fish, to the left of that is our other female-our beautiful green and yellow Rango (yes the gecko from the Rango movie-thought she was a boy at first, she does chirp a lot like boys do) she is our Amazonian queen and has a crush on Teetsa too, but Petra is very jealous and guards her man 24-7, though the two girls are very good friends and will sit and coffee clutch when Petra isn't being fed or preened by her "main cheep". The last photo on the bottom left is a close up of our oldest boy-Teetsa. They are big chirpers but not big talkers. We used to have a male to spoke up a storm and said things like "Zippy's a good boy, carrots go up, Kisses (fist he said quiche's ) and Cookie (one of the cats names). He died after a bad vet failed to diagnose him and we didn't know any better since he was our first bird.

Beautiful birds! I would love to have one or two or three or.. well, you get it. But my hubby has drawn the line at 2 cats, a dog and multiple tanks. I get my bird fix now by watching wild birds and can spend all day doing it. I probably look like a creepy stalker with my binoculars stuck to my face peering out of my back yard but..
Love budgies though.. thanks for sharing!

Thanks, we started with one (Zippy) who was special hand raised and very social boy. As we weren't around enough we decided to get him a girlfriend-from Pet(not so)smart (we weren't so smart then either). Those guys are puppy-mill breeder birds and she was so terrified of us that it took month to get her to go "up" when you asked. Unfortunately she was a very small and like chickens can produce unfertilized eggs under the right conditions, we unknowingly got those and she had an impacted egg and died of it. To keep Zippy from becoming too depressed (he already was) we got Teetsa, who I know was a boy. Adamant that we not be stuck with one depressed bird I wanted three and I went and got Rango about a year before poor Zippy died. So to build it back up to three we went to Bird is the Word ad purchased 2 baby budgies. Unknown to us when my Sister's friends came from Ohio they brought Petra about a month before we brought two boys home from Bird is the Word. So we had 5 until about a year ago when he died of heart failure. But you move on. When these guys go I won't get any more.

Pretty birds. When I was first married, we had a blue parakeet named "Sam". He was hysterically funny. When guests came over, he would fly to the corner of the cage where the guest was and grab onto each side, then flip himself upside down and show you his poo poo spot - his version of "hi there!"!

I've never wanted a bird as a pet, but I love watching them - both in the stores when I'm there and especially outside my home. I have a colleague who has 7 of the larger parrots (the ones that live about 50 yrs) and he always has pictures of them. They are his "kids". I think he does more work taking care of them than I do with my tanks. They are apparently very needy but so beautiful.

I had a parakeet decades ago, don't remember the name now. I didn't have the patience to teach it to talk but I did teach it to wolf whistle. Then I taught it to wolf whistle backwards. We would let it out of the cage to fly around the house for exercise (and poop on top of the drapes, lol.) Occasionally it would be stubborn about going back in through the door, and we would have to take the top off and allow it to fly back in.

    ^^^^Please click the eggs/dragons, thanks.

We let the flock out too on the weekends or days off. The green girl, Rango does not like hands, but Petra and Teetsa do, the big one-Disco doesn't come out-so the three of them sit on the cage on their play pen, or in the spring/summer on their window perches looking outside. When its time to go home we put the couple Petra and Teetsa in the cage (cause we can handle them), and then we say, "Rango, go home, go home Rango" and she does...lol

She is so smart, wish she was more people friendly.
