Suitable Cichlids for a 29gallon?
So are there any cichlids that dont grow much over 4-5 inches? I want to get a group of small cichlids but there are so many varieties and opinions on these fish and how much space they need. I saw at the LFS an "assorted" group of African cichlids and it said their adult size was 4-4.5 inches. I liked how they looked very much.
I have had some convicts but Im not that into them anymore...I need BRIGHT, COLORFUL fish.29g Saltwater, FOWLR

GBR would work... they are colorful...
African cichlids are really aggressive. It's better if they are put in african cichlids only tank and the tank has to be overstocked to prevent aggression..
So i think the german blue ram would be a good choice since it's not that aggresive since they are from south america...10 Gallon Reef

I have a pleco in there thats about 4 inches. Would they bother him? I also hav a red claw crab but that booger really knows how to hold his own. My fairly big jack, parrot and firemouth tried messing with him and they learned the hard way. Plus, he is in his cave that fish cant get into most of the time.

The apisto's are nice little cichlid but you have to remember that ALL cichlids breed like rabbits. That tank might not be large enough for long unless you can get rid of babies in a hurry.

cockatoos are stunning! I'm surprised that in socal you can't find anything. I can find some, but they are a couple hours away. Maybe you can try a local forum or some local classifieds?
