Amway Quixtar Scam.

Recently I have been approached by several friends who want me to join in on a pyramid scheme called Quixtar (for all of you oldies out there this is the same company that was know as Amway several years ago).

Anyhow the scam goes, you buy stuff and then get other people to buy stuff (you get a percent of what they buy). They in turn get others to buy and then you make even more money. They claim you can become rich doing this. Just sounds like a scam to me.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with these things. Anyone done this in the past? Anyone doing it now? What do you think about this?

My son got talked into this stuff years ago. He spent tons of money on gas running here and there to give shows, host parties etc. Also they have conventions all over the country and that's another dime out of your pocket for air fare, lodging, meals, nice clothing. It's all a bunch of bunk.

Two people here in the apartments where I live are doing it now. The last I heard, they had made a total of $7 after months of doing this.

My friends are spending hundreds on the meeting and materials. They buy the products and use them and are probably losing money that way too. The whole system seems to be bogus. The devotion of the people seems almost cult like too. I showed my friends many of the problems with the system and they are still going to go for it. I think brainwashing is happening on some level here.

You CAN make money off of it. basicly how it works is you need to get as many people to join as you can and they all have to buy products. you make a certain percentage off of what you spend. so for every 100 you make soo much we will say 7 dollars. you also make money from all of the people you get to join so if you get 10 people to join and they spend 100 dollars thats 70 from them. and you also get money from who they get to join. kthats how the pyramid works. so the only way you make money is if your at the top of the pyramid. if you have 5 friends who joined who got 5 friends who joind who also got 5 friends who joined and so on. you make a ton of money. if a friend got you to join and you dont have anyone under you you loose money.

btw dont join its almost impossible to make money. usually by the time you see it around your area its all ready too late. and you loose friends by joining too. becasue whne your friends join thats all they talk about and they always want you to join so it makes people mad.

My kid wanted to hook me into that deal, as well. I told him when I wanted toilet paper, I wanted it now not wait to fill out an order blank and wait until they delivered.
