none, if thats a standard 55g tank, the oscar alone needs a 75g. to comfortably house a oscar and 6 silver dollars, IMO youre looking at a 150g or better a 180g

i would still say 90g min for 4-5 dollars and a JD.

if you want schooling tankmates for a JD in a 55g, you can try giant danios or some of the larger rainbowfish species

90g has a red devil, severum, small JD, 2 small bala sharks, black shark, 2 pacu, upside down catfish, blood parrot, hybrid red zebra, and a few other mixmatched fish. all of these fish but the black shark were neglected and heavily diseased and beaten up, all will go in a 650g

I personally do not agree with putting those types of fish in with big cichlids. They are used as dithers in this manner and it is extremely stressful for them. Our goal should always be to get our fish to thrive, all of them, and putting schoolers in with big aggressive piscivores almost guarantees that won't happen (even if they live a while and do 'fine').

I soooo agree with Fishguy. My silver dollars are with black skirts and they are fine and can act normal in this setting. If they are nervous and scared all the time, all they will do is dash back and forth in the tank slamming into the glass.

When people buy Oscars, they need to plan on these oscars being alone and having a tank to themselves. Now and then someone has others in their tank and it works but most of the time it does not unless you have a huge tank.

I completely understand. Im not saying im gona do any of that, im just trying to plan my tank. The reason I asked about SD, an assumed other schoolers, was because I had read many times of people doing and recommending them with oscars on this forum, my mistake.
