GBR & Checkerboard cichlid?
I have a GBR female in my tank, and when I went to bed last night, she was really round and had quite the red belly.....this morning, her and my Checkerboard cichlid male were swimming around together like they were a couple, and low and behold, she was empty. No red belly or roundness and her tube was out far!!! I could find no eggs on anything, but they could have been eaten by the corys!

I think the cichlids ate the eggs not the corys.

Checkerboards and Rams cannot breed together... they are from complete seperate families... it would be like a cow and a donkey breeding. I have no doubt they are very fond of each other and love being around each other as I have had different cichlids joined at the hip from seperate family's but even if they wanted to they could not breed together.
Rams also usually start breeding by picking a breeding area and cleaning and defending it a few days before laying.
