I ws looking for a bristlenose plec and can't seem to find any in my area, one of the petstores I called say they carry something called dwarf plecos (but she didn't have any in stock right now anyway) She didn't know the scientific name for these.............got any idea what they might be or are there a lot of different plecs that are sold under the dwarf name?

I have a couple extra juvie (1.5-2") BN's on hand, also a couple extra adult L129's (aka Colombian zebra.) The L129's are around 3", and won't grow any larger. Both are excellent algae eaters/tank cleaners, the L129's are more omnivorous. Priority Mail shipping is $8 for up to 2 lbs, $5/$15 each for the pleco's if you're interested.

    A pic would be helpful..

Never really heard of a "dwarf" pleco..

You would think it could be any pleco that doesn't get to be over 6", of which there are several.

Ask her to ask her supplier for the scientific name, or forward a pic.

It's probably a Peckoltia species, artemis. That's the genus the common 'clown' plecos come from. 'Rubber Lips' are Chaetostoma or Paratocinclus species, as fish from both Genuses go by that common name.
Peckoltias top out under 4 inches, the Chaetostoma about five, and the Paratocinclus three.

They might also be otocinclus, they look fairly similar to plecos and eat algae like the pleco's also.
