Ok, so I was looking at Craigslist for Orlando, FL. and found this setup for sale, and thought I'd get some opinions on it from you guys.

    http://orlando.craigslist.org/for/1584740030.html

Not sure if I have the cash right now, but if I can convince the wife to let me use some of the tax return I might pick it up.

Please let me know if this is worth it. thx.

Sounds like a good deal to me, but I'm strictly FW now. My main concern would be MOVING it from its current location. Hope you have friends with strong backs!

Good luck with this, if you get it!! Keep us posted?

Thats a nice tank! I think I have seen it before.lol

I wouldn't jump into anything like that unless I knew a lot about keeping a SW set up.
Thats a lot of coin and if you have any problems lots could be lost.
It is a good deal for the money, you might even be able to get it for less!

I agree, that is a good deal.

If you get it, be prepared for a crazy move! I have done a couple of smaller moves (under 40g), and they were tough enough. Moving the tank itself is the easy part. Safely moving all that coral and then re-assembling it all in the new tank will be the challenge!

Therein comes the part about convincing my wife. The nice thing about her is that she is very consumer conscious when it comes to large purchases, so in order to convince her I would most likely have to do a ton of reading on SW set ups, produce a Powerpoint presentation, and do a final examination provided by her using any and all available material she has found on the subject. Only then would I have a shot at convincing her.

So needless to say I am really hoping that tank/set up doesn't sell for at least about a month before I will even have a shot at it.

On the bright side, if it didn't sell for that long it would probably go down in price.

Very nice tank at a good price , but if your not well experienced with Reef keeping I would not even think about it.
There is just to much to learn and to great a risk at loosing everything in the tank.

Tell the wife the dog would love it...that might work!

Seriously...you can do it...but you risk a tank crash - and then you won't know why it crashed. The SW expertise seems to take a while to develop because there are more concerns with it...

I still haven't figured it all out...

After hearing several peoples opinions I have decided to take all your advice. I will wait for now since I have no saltwater experience/knowledge. Even though I really like that tank and as you all have said it's a good deal, I think it will be best if I take the time to read/study more and get a good handle on the theory of the beast first, and then maybe start a little smaller to build up my experience base.

Thanks for all the advice I really do appreciate it.

And one I'm sure most AC members heartily applaud!

Always research FIRST, then research again, before buying something that large and complicated. It's not like it's a tank with 2 guppies and some fake plants you're contemplating. That is some serious cash outlay, and it would be heartbreaking (and wallet-breaking) to have to watch it crash and burn.

I'm fairly certain your wife would agree as well.
