Great! I spent so long trying to find a picture like this when I got my mollies and I could not find ANYTHING. Great minds think alike. ;)

I have only ever seen 1 male platy in my local fish store and he is now in my aquarium.
Is there a shortage of male platies?!

This was helpful, just found out all 5 of my guppies are Male, looks like they won't be breeding anytime soon.

confusion here
Help- all my platy looked like the female - they are all about 1.5" long (red wag, a red and a yellow mickey mouse, a yellow one with black head and a black one with orange head/throat) and had the same anal fin - however, the red wag yesterday made his maleness VERY apparent - LONG tube sticking out of end of the normally looks like female fin... the red wag and orange mickey mouse I've had for a month, the other 3 are new (2 days)... perhaps they are all male? Or at least one of the new ones is female to make the wag do that? upon observation the anal fins of 4 look the same, the yellow one with black head seems to have a raspy fin... help?
Just went to take pics - none turned out clear enough :S HOWEVER, now another is DEFINATLY showing his Maleness too...
Does this mean that there is a female in my new batch? Or have they just happened to 'mature' and started showing this anatomy??Last edited by CDOHaver; 05-06-2013 at 03:27 PM.
