    Here is my situation.

I have a pleco that went from a 30 gallon cichlid tank to a 75 gallon cichlid tank, and the cichlids they are tearing him up.
I thought by giving him more space he could hide better, but they go into caves and tear him up..
Now, I want to move him to my 30 gallon tropical fish tank.

Will he survive the temp change? he is in 82 and will be in 78 degrees.
Will he survive the fact that the 30 gallon doesn't have buffers??
He'll be going from 8.2 PH to 7.2 PH and soft water.

I am not worried about the smaller tank size. He is not that big yet...Maybe 4 inches.

    Thank ya'll

Bag him and introduce him slowly. I think he should be ok. Plecos are very hardy when it comes to water conditions.

I think he's going to be fine like Abbeys_Mom said just introduce him slow. the temperature is not actually that far off i'd be surprised if it did have problems.

Hey folks! You are both #1 in my book :-)
I moved him and he acted as if he has lived in that tank all his life.
He is finally getting a chance to eat because the cichlids in the 75 gallon were depriving him.

He looked like he couldn't wait to get out of the cichlid tank. He actually swam right into the net. I swear.

I acclimated him to the water for 15 minutes and that was it.
I hope he grows well in there. I had big plans for him in the 75g, but it didn't work.
Funny how the LFS has plecos and African cichlids together???

some plecos are used to cichlids and do fine like mine. normally they are there first so they don't have to worry about adjusting because they are already in control.

Glad things went ok. He's probably happier in the smaller tank. Being harassed by Cichlids would be no fun.

He seemed OK last night after the move, but this morning I don't know?

His belly, where he used to have beautiful, defined markings, looks whitish or washed out?

The rest of him looks off too.

I wonder if it is a combination of being removed from the salty cichlid tank and the PH drop?

I don't use salt in my cichlid tank any more but I haven't changed out 100% of the water yet so there is still some in there?
He looks active, but he looks like he swam through a milk bath...

    Thanks Abbeys Mom

I have to keep an eye on him for awhile.

He is probably stressing a bit because of the PH and temp difference.
Hopefully he will endure this and get back to normal.
He is eating, so I don't think anything serious is going on.Thanks for the article!
