Thread: Is it probable?

    Default Is it probable?

Is it probable to have more than one brain coral in a 20gL? If so, what kind or range am I looking at? I LOVE my new lobed and I want to get a red open and there is a purple that is catching my eye. Also, does anyone know where I can get some cheap acans? And my last question is did my Blastomussa actually grow like 3 more heads in the last couple of days or am I just seeing things? I know when I saw it at the store I counted 5 heads and this morning I counted at least 8.

If you can find a spot for it, you can add a lobophyllia (lobed brain).
You may want to position at least 2"-3" from any other coral. At night they open and expand.

You've got blastomussa merleti. Those take time to grow additional heads (3 more heads in a month or two, probably, but in a few days, very improbable). More likely, the heads you didn't see previously were deflated and obscured by adjacent expanded polyps.

I'm unfamiliar with online coral acquistion. I got my acan very inexpensively from my LFS' frag tank ($10). If the LFS's in your area have frag tanks you could start searching there. They tend to sell pretty fast, though, so it may take some luck.

I wanted the open brain, I have the lobed.
