Well, I come home today and find myself in quite an annoying situation.

I am trying to get rid of a slight algae bloom in my 46 gallon tank that houses my cories, a baby pleco, and 17 glowlight tetras, and I find the my cories laid their first eggs ONE INCH below the water line. Now talk about annoyed.

I am very excited for the fish, and glad that they had their first eggs, but also rather mad at them for putting them so close to the top.

The eggs are most likely going to be gone ...eaten by the cories themselves or the other fish. I know how you feel though...my angels always decide to spawn on water changing day...it's like they do it on purpose LOL

It is possible to move them by very gently scraping the glass with something like a credit card. If you really want to hatch them it is possible to move them to another cycled tank and "incubate" the eggs yourself, this can be a bit difficult to do. You have to do it very slowly and carefully though so as not to damage any of the eggs, but as Jess said, they are not likely to last long.

well, they ALL made it through the night, so that makes them almost one day old.

I think that quite a few of them have a chance because they somehow laid about 15-20 of them behind my powerhead.

I will keep up with the updates as things happen.

The cories will either eat the eggs,or the fry.If you are actually trying to breed them, you should have a seperate tank for that.It is not hard to get cories to lay eggs, the hard thing is keeping them from eating them.

Well, I think I have it all figured out now.

I have 5 pepered cories, 3 smaller males and 2 large females. And the females seem like they are going to lay eggs every other week... Im assuming it is a different female every other week, so once a month for each one.

Im not going to do anything with the eggs for now and see if any of them make it. If the do that is great, but if not I won't get upset about it.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions everyone!
