What is the minimum depth and square footage for a place in the pond to overwinter goldfish? In St. Louis, MO we might get 7 days here and there below 20 F each winter.

My pond is about 16" deep, the ice tends to get a few inches thick through the colder periods. The water lilies and rosy reds survive just fine. Not sure what the minimum would be, but you seem to have milder winters in general.

As long as it doesn't freeze solid it's fine. Just remember to not feed them and don't start any pumps until the water is quite warm again. The extra circulation will cause the water temp to drop and if the water is already cold the fish will freeze to death.
