Thread: 5 Gallon tank?

  1. Question 5 Gallon tank?

Is a 5 gallon tank acceptable for a betta to live in? I currently have my male betta in my 30 gal community and he is wonderful with my other fish, HOWEVER my gouramis are not playing nice with him. They are picking at his tail fin so I want to move him out.

Yes a 5 gallon is fine for a betta. 10 gallons aren't much more expensive though.

yup its good for him...make sure the filter in there is not making too much turbulence and maintain temperature for him........Its not that 5G is bad for him but 10G would be good for him

Thanks! I should have mentioned that I already have the 5 gallon tank. Silly me!

A 5g is fine for a betta. Just give him plenty of structure to swim around and hide in. As for filtration, keep it to a minimum and try to diffuse the outflow to minimise surface turbulence.

in my experience, bettas are happier alone. well, mine was. tried her in my 30 community, and havoc was wreaked. good luck and it sounds great!
