Plants and fish waste
So what kind of effect do plants have on fish waste? I have to say that I haven't seen any fish poop in the gravel for a long time now that I have plants. Do you even need to vacuum the gravel? I tried it last night but nothing gross came up!

My tank's pretty heavly planted and with little fish and yet i still see stuff when i vacuum. I'm sure not all fish poop is able to be taken up by plants so whats left over is what i probably see.
But i don't even vacuum very much anyway since i don't want to suck up my plants out of the gravel and that micro-sword is a pain to re-root.

poop is fertilizer,if your tank has a good healthy biosystem going and your plants are healthy poo should not lie around much longer then a day before it breaks down and is used.
