New 29g. tank
I can't remember if I posted about this or not. If I did, please overlook me lol but I'm really excited about it.
I've been watching craigslist for a while now looking for a used 29g. tank for my 2 Neolamprogene brichardi. I have them in my 55g. mainly mbuna tank and they kinda act like they might be pairing up so they need a tank to themselves.
Anyway the other day a girlfriend called me and said that a 29g. tank was just listed on freecycle.org and it was near where I live. I called about it and went and got it. I really wasn't expecting it to be much since it was free but it turned out to be great!
It was the black framed glass tank with one of those metal stands that will hold 2- 29g. tanks. One on a shelf on the bottom. It also had a piece of glass cut for this bottom shelf in case you don't have another tank for the bottom. The stand is also not the plain kind but the kind with swirls of metal as the braces.Very pretty.
Hubby gave the stand a new coat of black paint while I cleaned the tank and took the paper background off and painted the back glass black.
It also came with gravel that I like alot (very similar to the light neutral color of the gravel I bought for our 55g. tank) and 3 big rocks that look like coral or something. It might even be something man made, I'm not sure.
It came with the hood and light but the light was burned out. Turned out my daughter had an extra bulb to fit and I love it. It's a Penn-Plax aquari-lux light. I want to get one of those for our 55g. tank now too because the fishes colors just pop with it.
It also came with a Fluval 304 canister filter with lots & lots of ceramic rings & I guess charocoal pouches in it that look brand new. I put the canister on my 55g. tank and took off one of the HOB filters with biowheels from the 55g. and put that on the new 29g. so the cycle went sweetly.
It looks fantastic and I can't believe it was free. It just doesn't get any better than that. I put some extra male mbuna that I need to get rid of in it for the time being until I can get them to the LFS or find someone that wants them. Like I said their colors look brilliant with the black background and that new bulb but I'll soon have to move them out and put the brichardi that the tank was originally for in it. Am I the only one that likes to move fish around from tank to tank lol? If I had even more tanks I'd be doing it all the time
Sorry such a long post but I'm really excited and can't get over the fact that it was FREE
.

Thanks alot. It's unusual for me to get lucky lol but I sure did this time. That's one of the reasons I'm so excited. I feel like I won a lottery or something lol.
Is that a Welsh Corgi in your avitar? Cute dog!Dixie

100g.? Make that a 120g. That's what I really want... a tank that is 5ft. long by 18" wide not sure how tall but doesn't have to be that tall to suit me. I'd really like the 5ft. to fit perfectly on the one wall in my livingroom. Eventually I'd like an even bigger one in my daughters bedroom lol.
I'm still watching craigslist and now I'm watching freecycle too lol. There was a free 55g. tank the same day as I got the 29g. but I already have 2-55g. tanks and don't have room for another....right now anyway lol.Dixie
