Yes. It is.
Arowana fish are somewhat sensitive and need good care which include frequent water changes to survive. I strongly recommend that you read everything you can find about Arowanas to be able to give your the best home possible.
You can start by reading here:

I was reading your arowana article. I had read that the certain arrowanas have a tendancy to jump out of the tanks. And you recommended that we cover the tanks. I was wondering if the jumping was instinctual. I read further and it said that the arowanas that live in the wild will jump at insects in trees. Interesting article and thanks for the information on the arowanas

Hey Rebel... Just inquiring to the size of your tank. the larger it is, the easier it will be to maintain proper water conditons. Besides all 3 of those fish get quite large, and need a lot of swimming room. :)
debates about size of an Aro's tank are always up and about, but to do it right, 300Gallon is a minimum, and only if the tank has been modified to fit Arowannas. ( shorter, and wider then a standard 300Gallon. if you plan on keeping the JD, and Oscar aswell, the tank will need to be 400Gallon.... minimum.
I hope your tank meets these requirements, if not, consider returning the Aro... your only going to make its life miserable.
If your tank is that big.... thats AMAZING. Id love to see some pics! and if so, good luck with your ARO!
