    Default Pretty much a long shot . . .

    Folks,
Been searching for the name of a British TV show I saw most of on PBS early last year. It involved a female detective. Story was some one from a horrible past - a war criminal, was threatening Serbian refugees when they discovered he was there by his very presence. They hid in their apartments, terrified.
Detective investigates the death of a Serbian man, and stumbles on the situation. Apparently the man from the past of the characters was the leader of a 'military' group who raped and tortured women, and stood the men up against the wall and shot them, according to a girl the detective was able to interview.
The scene that stuck in my head, horrible though it is, was a woman washing a toilet in a distant wing of a hospital. A man with a gun comes up behind her, turns her head, and puts the gun to it. The realization who he was and the fear in her eyes causes him to turn her head back around and puts the gun against the back of the girl's head.
We see the detective and her men running to find the girl because they have a strong idea she's in danger. They hear the gunshot, and soon find the girl dead, glassy-eyed, on the floor of the toilet stall.
The show was phenomenally well written and acted, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the show. I don't know if it was a episode of a series, or a movie. I thought it might be 'Blue Murder' but came up empty on an episode description that even remotely matched the situations of the show.
Anyone have any idea about the title of the show? Only have 6,000 or so points, but will give 5,000 of them to whoever can name it.

NO. But now I'm all excited and would like to know. LOL If you know any of the actors, you could search their names and it would give the movies they've been in.

It was on the Sunday night 'Mystery' series on PBS, so it was a BBC production. Really, really bugging me I can't pull the title out of the cobwebs in my brain.
It's very good, Hobbsy. If you like gripping, dramatic mystery, you'd love it.

The only PBS detective shows I can think of are called "Under Suspicion", "Mystery", and "Prime Suspect", and they each had a female detective in it...

Sniper got it. It's a two-part episode of Prime Suspect, season 6 'The Last Witness'
Hobbsy, you have to get it. Female detective is played by Helen Mirren.

That was a good show...I've been waiting for re-runs, or even finding it on a dvd somewhere....the show Mystery follows closely along the lines of Prime Suspect, I think it may be a spin off of that series...

Funny how a show can stick with you. I read a book, years ago, that was sooooo scarey I had to keep putting the book down. The name of it was Black Christmas. I see a couple years ago they come out with a movie Black Christmas but don't know if it was after the book or not. The book was the bomb!

Some dude was living in the attic of this sorority house and knocking them off one by one.
