AC HOB Filters
Hi again :-)
Still reading and still planning. I think that I've got a few different things figured out:
Current plan is to use a 20L with a Tunze protein skimmer and a small HOB for manual filtration, live rock and sand for bio filtration. Stealth heater if needed. Possible plenum, I haven't decided yet.
I'm fussing over the lighting because I want to have the LED moonlights, actinic and 50/50 and just haven't found the right combo of bulbs, wattage and Kelvin yet. If a lighting fixture uses 65 or 96 watt bulbs can you use a lesser wattage in the same socket?
I have on hand Aqua Clear 30, 50, 70 and 110 filters. Could the 70 or 110 be used as a refugium for cultivating 'pods?
Would the current created from multiple AQs coming down on top of the live rock and future coral be a plus or minus? It seems like the mounted power heads that I see are on the sides near the backs of the tanks so the angle of current would be much different. Would that be an advantage? I'd hate to plan the current in such a way that very few corals like it.
Thanks for your help folks and taking the time to post,

yep, the AC could be used as a fuge, just throw in some chaeto and a small PC light
the AC flow would be a bonus, but you still would need powerheads. You cant lessen the wattage in a fixture, but personally i use 10k bulbs on my halides and blue actinics on my T-5's. Depends on the blue level you like
