"Pur" tap water filters for home use. Will they benefit fish in any way? What exactly does the filter do to the tap water?

Mainly what they do is push the water through carbon, so it gets rid of the chlorine and makes it tase better. Waste of money for both drinking and aquariums in my opinion
CORRECTED video of my fish. This link works. For sure. Really.

Agreed, and it would add a lot of time to water changes and such, because the flow rates on those filters is usually pretty low.

Yeah, they only work for around 40 gallonos of water anyway.

Right! Depending on your water, you might have to replace those costly filters every 50 gallons.

We use one of the under the sink ones for drinking/cooking water. In our town the water is ridiculously hard and it does taste 'funny'. It's delicious after it has gone through the filter, but I have not used it for fish.

I was doing a courtesy water change at my g/f's house on her lazy ass step-dads tank. I noticed they've had the pur filter in for about 2 months now and a light goes on when the filter needs to be replaced, it's still running good. They have there fish raised on tap water and they've had the fish for over a year with no water changes in the last 3 or 4 months. I'm surprised they're still alive. Anyway, it's not my money so I don't care but doesn't the filter trap some junk that's in the water therefore it's a bit better then straight up tap water for the fish?
