how big do gars get?
hi
i know somewhere i can get some gars but how big do they get and can they go in with oscars
also how fast do they grow?

They grow very large and should not be with oscars. They can get over 2 FT and your oscar would be lunch.

Uhm ... what kind of gar. There is a pretty wide range, 10" to 40", depending on species.

Actually...
You may be suprised by this, but the Oscar would very likely bully the gar and eventually kill it. Gar have a reputation of being a big bad fish, but in reality they are very passive and only have interest in tankmates that are of an edible size.
Lady Hobbs is correct in the fact that they can reach lengths of 2'+ and a few species are capable of reaching Double that.-Jordan

This is definitely a very important factor although no "true gar" species stops growing at 10". Typically the most common gar found in the hobby is the Florida/Spotted Gar and they max out around 18-24 inches in captivity. They are also usually the smallest of the gar species...with the Shortnose and Tropical gar sharing a similar captive max size.

i dnt really know what type of gar it is but i no it has a slender body and a long nose and its silver with a bit of marking on it i still havent really read up on them yet.
