  1. Default African Jewel Fish?

I was at a neighbors house yesterday and they have a lake behind their house. He threw in some dog food and out came a swarm of fish he called 'African Jewel Fish'. They were black, and long with a long beta looking bright blue tail. Their heads were bright red. I typed their name in on google and I could not find any 'African Jewel Fish' that looked like them. I am curious because these were really neat looking fish which my interest aquarium owners.

Does anyone know their real name? I wish I could find a pic for you guys but these things were really pretty. It amazed me to see them just in this guys lake...any ideas?

Its body shape was a lot like this! The whole body was black the head was bright red/orange. The tail was bright baby blue. They were 1 to 6 inches long also...

I definitely will, his dad catches them in a trap and trades them for freshwater shrimp...Its killing me not knowing what they are.
