Thread: Awesome LFS

    Default Awesome LFS

I had one of the most awesome trips to my LFS yesterday. I decided to do something absolutely insane and set my 2.5gal tank up as a neat little Reef. So I took a small amount of sand from my big tank and some small rocks as well. Well, I really needed more and I didn't want to take more sand or rocks from my 125. So I went to my LFS to get buy some of the "sludge" out of the bottom of their Live Rock tank. They normally sell it for about $2.60/lb and you get some gravel sized rock out of it. I frequent that store and I know the owner and the other 2 workers really well. So I tell the guy that I need 2lbs of the stuff from the bottom of the tank. So I went back to see how he was doing with it and I looked at the bag and I realized that there was at least 4 lbs in there and he was still digging. I guess he noticed my look and said "don't worry, I'm only charging you for a single pound." That was cool. Well when all was said and done he had dumpted at least 5-8 lbs of stuff in the bag! I go to meet him at the register but got stopped by the owner's father so I talked to him for a minute. When I finally go to pay for the stuff, the guy looks at me and says "you're good, go ahead." I asked him about what I owed, and he repeated his last statement. I got roughly 8lbs of Live Rock rubble for free!!! When I got home and started putting the stuff in the tank, I discovered that it wasn't just just rubble, there were actually about 3-4 pieces of actual Live Rock in there as well. I love My LFS.

Awesome! Isn't it great when we run into people that are so kind and giving like that. He knows you'll be shopping there now for all your fish so it's a win-win for people to not be such scrouges.

GM, I'll try to get some pics a bit later when I actually get the stuff arranged. Right now it looks like a LR dump. LOL

Hobbs, you are right, that is where I do all my SW shopping now.

I was slightly annoyed yesterday though. They had 4 of the most beautiful Flame Angels and the most beautiful Blue Tang I've ever seen and I didn't have the $$$ for any of them. Those are the last 2 kinds fish I'm planning for the tank!

We just got a store opened up in town specifically for fish. I've been buying almost everything from him and getting it at cost. I'll be buying most of my fish from him as soon as my tank cycles:D
