Hiding Guppy not swimming much
I have a male guppy thats always been quite active. I did a partial water change yesterday, heated the water to tank temperature which Ive always done. Today my guppy was at the surface and not real active, kinda jittery. Now hes hiding up against a decoration in the tank. hes breathing but thats about it, his fins dont look clamped. Could this be from the stress of the water change?(its never bothered him before) I use bottled water in my tank. Also another question... after the water change( 1 gallon out of a 10 gallon tank) my nitrates and nitrites were okay but still on the higher side of okay, any suggestions on getting it even lower? I cleaned the filter and plants decorations etc as well, trying to figure out why they are still higher than normal... thanks!

It might have been been stress due to water exchange. Did you use the same brand of bottle water as usual?
How do you filter and decoration?
lowering the nitrite/nitrate levels are easy. more frequent water changes and perhaps feeding less.

It was the same water as usual... I use a power waterfall filter, that hangs on the tank..I have plastic plants, ... I havent used any soap or anything... did the same as Ive done for the 3 months Ive had the tank. Will the stress kill my guppy??? he now sinks to the bottom, but still using his fins and breathing ok...just looks like hes resting on the bottom, then he'll swim up and rest on top of the cave...... but its not his usual self... anything I can do to help the lil guy??

Sorry I can’t really help you. The only thing I can think of is that something has been introduced to aquarium by mistake. Don't know what though since you seem to be doing everything correct.
You just have to wait and se. And you might want to consider doing a new water change to get your nitrite/nitrate levels down to good levels.
