    0 Not allowed!
at the mo im buying equipment to build a reef aquarium!
iv got a 55 uk gallon tank
    fluval 405
    v2 400 skimmer
    heater
    rio 3ft tank for sump
    to get:
    t5 light units
    uv sterilizer
my question is :ive decided to use a v2 400 uv sterilizer and have been told i can fit this to my return feed from my fluval 405. but ive heard that the flow may be too fast for the uv to work properly??????????????
    is this correct??????????????

don't waste your money on a UV sterilizer. You don't need one. They are only useful if you know you have something in your tank like Ich. The problem with them on a Reef tank is that they not only kill the Ich, but anything else that passes through them. That means that they kill off a lot of really good things for your tank. If you really want to get it go ahead, but don't run it unless you know there is something wrong in your tank.

Waste of money, I don't see a point too it.

You could put one in a quarentine tank if you wanted too I guess.

no point unless you have a FW tank with incurable algae/cloudy water

i see youre making a reef, so a UV would kill more good than bad

Congrats on the new setup! Keep us posted on your progress.

Agreed that the uv is probably not necessary, but it's your call. However, to answer your question, you'll just have to check the specs for the filter and the sterilizer. If the flow rates match, then it's probably fine to run it that way. If not, then you'll have to plumb it a different way.
