Thread: Hazy water

  1. Default Hazy water

    Hi all...
All of a sudden, after 3 years, my water has become a hazy milky mess.
All water perameters are perfect, regular water changes and filter maintenance, etc.

Some say it could be a biological bloom?
What is that and what can I do for it???

    Thanks!

Sounds like a bacterial bloom is the most logical explaination to me. Unless something is some how getting into the tank.

Did you do any recent filter maintenence?
Money can't buy happiness, but it sure can pay the rent.

Infamous bacteria bloom, basically caused by an unstable amount of bacteria in your tank. I just recently had the same issue. Happened to me because i took out too much water from my 12g tank and it offset the ecosystem.

Good news is, it really wont harm your fish, just makes your tank look ugly.

I did small water changes like 10% every other day, and just gave it time. Eventually the bacteria will settle and the water will be clear again, took me about a week and a half, i would limit the ammount of light you give your fish as well.

FYI this could have also been cause by adding a decoration to your tank that was dirty.

Good luck, lket me know how it works out.

Maybe because we got 5 days of rain and I have a private well?
I had done a very large water change and that's when it started.
The fish are fine so I guess I just have to wait it out.
