  1. Default What is growing on my heater?

I bought a 60 gallon aquarium about two weeks ago, and the heater has been running with the filter on. This gel substance is growing on the top of my heater and both suction cups.

My water is the tap water in Kyrgyzstan, no treatment yet and my testkits are on order. I was just hoping someone could identify what's growing from a picture.

did you use any water clarifiers? ie: accurel-f and so on?

You know this new 55 gal. I just set up got some of that goo too but I found it free floating on the top of the water near the front edge of the tank. I removed it with my fingers and it hasn't returned.
Respect is mutual, if you don't respect others viewpoints, chances are they won't acknowledge yours.

The only thing to go in the tank so far is 10lbs bio-activ aragonite reef sand, the filter, and the heater. The water has not been treated and the gel started forming before I put the sand in. (I'm waiting on an order of 50 more pounds)
