Actually, Otos are one of the very few fish that will eat the diatoms. Ancistrus plecs will eat it but prefer green algae.

I have the opposite going on in my tanks, my pleco loves brown algae, doesn't go for the green.

Depending on how long you have had the pleco...

I've noticed that any time I have put a new pleco in my tank it usually will take about 3 -4 months before they really attack the algae. I ended up buying a little clow pleco aside from my original plecostomus, and shortly after they first bought pleco went to town on my algae.

    Just what I've noticed!
    Good Tankin' & Take Care!

Ottos are mini algae machines. However, mine for whatever reason, wont eat the small green hairs that typically grow on my glass. As much as I love my ottos, they just dont touch this type of algae in my aquarium.

We are making a 40 gallon native tank in our office. Can anyone suggest a native algae eater that can keep the glass clean, from NE Oklahoma.
