Unless you often see your fish at the surface gulping for air ,an airstone isnt necceasary,I use one at night in my tank because there seems to be a need for that reason.I do agree that with low light plants such as the ferns and vals that it wont hurt to use a stone.

nobody is gulping for air... i just think the bubbles are pretty hahhaha and I know its nice for the fishies :P~~Misty~~
