i bought one of those feeder comets at wal-mart for 29 cents, and got him to 12" and i bought him at 1". he got too big for my tank so i gave him to a LFS, and they sold him for $40 to a guy with a pond

Here's a head shot of the comet, along with a butterfly koi that has since gone onto pond life.
