Got bit by a Tokay Gecko today

They are a nasty little creature lol, they almost bark like a dog when they are angry. I was cleaning out his enclosure today and had just about finished up when he jumped out from under the foliage in his tank and bit me. He bites quite often but the first time he has ever drawn blood lol.Sailor

Sorry to hear about your injury. But that picture made me laugh when I saw it.
Stock the tank you have, not the tank you plan to have. Always have and use patience.

For those of you who want a SW tank and never have had one before or just starting out, read this blog entry from my blog on AC, it will give you a place to start.

They are nastier than their appearance lol. It was just a little cut no big deal, it just startled me more than anything. The funny thing was I was kind of expecting it but he is just so fast. They do not like to be handled at all. You rarely get 1 that will tolerate it, but there is a few out there.

I should toss him in my blood parrots tank and see who comes out ahead.

Don't feel too bad, one of the employees at an lfs was bitten by a large iguana when he tried to put it away for the night. It had been basking under a light overhead, and got a bit twitchy when picked up unexpectedly. A tooth punctured the sac around his knuckle, and the infection took some time to heal. Still, it wasn't as bad as the bite a moray gave the owner one day when he was teasing it. That one took months to get over, lucky he didn't lose a finger or two.
