Thread: Convict rescue

  1. Default Convict rescue

Yesterday I rescued a baby convict from my friend who had it in horrible living conditions with no water changes for about a month. I now have it in my 10 gallon feeder/planted/multipurpose tank.

He's got all these white cones on him that are about 1/32-1/16" in diameter. Anyone know what this is and how to treat it?

Also some of the feeders have dark bumps under their skin. I really want to feed them to my gar because he hasnt eaten in a really long time but I'm not seeing it as a good idea.

Prolly a fungus and will need some fungal meds.

Don't know what the black spots are on the goldfish. Could it be natural skin pigment beginning to show? If no, then dump them.

They're actually rosy reds so its not skin pigmentation. I guess I'll have to dump them. I've been treating the convict with melafix and aquarium salt.

The spots on the goldfish sounds like ammonia burn.

They were rosy reds so their skin was kind of transparent and I could see little black balls under their skin. They all looked in really rough shape so I got rid of them.

The convict's looking alot better. The huge white lumps are shrinking and hes being very active.

Good to heart the good news, dealing with sick fish is always depressing, especially if they after all the effort/$$ you spent on treatments.
