Thanks for the warm welcome......Im just starting out in the freshwater world but i here its pretty easy.
My cichlid tank is a standerd 144g half circle by oceanic. Its lighted by two 250watt HQI 10,000k and 4 T5s 10k,65,blue atinic, pink atinic. Its filter system is a berlin setup that the refugium is filled with bio balls, and a H&S skimmer and a UV that Im not running. As far as fish Im not shure watt they are, some are blue and red, some are blue, some are call yellow labs ,and some are peacocks.

You also have a couple yellow Labs in there.
Did you get your assortment from the stores "Mixed African Cichlid" tanks? Be careful with that. They mix a bunch of them up and when they are in doubt, those go in the same tank. You may get several that don't go together too well.
Slate looks great.
John, you didn't mention if you cycled the tank first. If not, grab yourself some bio-spira from the LFS and add it to the tank so it doesn't go toxic on you.Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 02-01-2008 at 10:53 PM.

Yea I was afraid of that. None of them are fighting though. I threw some feeder guppies in the tank for the bigger ones and they have eatin them in two weeks. My wife went a head and named them.

I was thinking you didnt need to cycle fresh water. I added about 10, the first week, about 15 the third, and about 5 today. Is that to fast?
