What would you put in it?
I have a 55 gallon set up with the old Tetra/Second Nature Water's Edge Viquarium kit. So 1/3 of the tank is land and 2/3 water. I will be adding more plants to the water area, plants that will grow out of the water like some of the swords. Hopefully all the plants on the land will live (roots are completely submerged, so hopefully it works like hydroponics). I am planning on a few newts, firebelly toads (green, not ugly brown), guppies, and maybe some danios. I may add something else in the water to provide a little more land, maybe just some driftwood. What would you put in it? I am thinking crested geckos, or maybe Bibron's or some other small, hardy gecko.

ooooooh that tank is just asking for some Ambystoma mexicanum
You will need a comfy chair in front of it though... you will not be able to keep your eyes off them
EDIT: A link on them http://www.axolotl.org/Last edited by Fishalicious; 03-18-2008 at 08:19 PM.

Not enough room for my axolotls, but good idea.
Dwarf frogs are good too, but I have never been too crazy about them and would prefer to keep it to stuff I really like.
Most crabs are actually brackish and would also mess with the newts if nothing else.
Keep them coming.
Any ideas for the land and air areas?
I was thinking I could also silicone cork bark to the glass up high as a shelter for arboreal geckos if I add them. I may also add the Exo-Terra Jungle Vines. Super flexible and animals love them.
I do plan on making a DIY fogger with a humidifier from Wal-Mart.Owner: Aquarium Maintenance and Pet Care Company

They sometimes attempt to jump out of the water, but if they ever make it, they die. They need the water to survive.

With my very limited knowledge on reptiles and amphibians, I think it would be cool to put a bunch of frogs in there. African clawed frogs, firebellied toads...or even some small turtle would be good if there is one small enough to fit in something like that.

I like African clawed frogs, but they would end up eating some/everybody, at least the newts.
I do plan on the fire belly toads.
I do love baby turtles, but they pose the same problem of eating everything. That and in no time they will not be so baby.
I like some of the frogs, but many need their own terrarium just for them because they are so small, sensitive, etc. Others are too big like one of my favorite past herps, albino asian bullfrog. That thing was cool.Owner: Aquarium Maintenance and Pet Care Company
