Nice little ole crawdad you have there. Where did you get him? Make dead sure there's no way for him to crawl out, as crawl he will if he gets a chance, and there's nothing like a dried-up crawdad on the floor to excite the cats, kids and significant female other into a tizzie.

Yeah I speak from experience dont let him get out. It kind of scares people specifically my mom.

he's one of those pet store crayfish they sell as "blue lobsters" for aquariums, which is silly because they eat fish and like colder water, so you have to keep them in their own tank
he would have eaten someone's fish, and they would have gotten rid of him
that's why little guys like him are contaminating the local gene pool

crays dont necessarily have to go in their own tank, with fast fish like danios the cray shouldnt be able to catch them

oh, and about the escaping, i know about that, and have situated his plants and hides and things (and the water level) so that he can't get out
but soon he will be big enough to climb out the filter tube, so i'll block off any open spots in the lid soon
eventually i'll have to move him to a bigger tank, because he is in a 6.6 gallon, long, skinny tank

they are so cool! i saw one at lfs last night. I contemplated getting one myself....
