Why I Love To Travel!
After my little "adventure" on my flight down ...

... it seems like my flight back tomorrow might run into a few problems as well:

Looks like some airport employees will be going on strike tomorrow and the airlines are expecting some delays and cancellations.
LMAO .....

Hopefully this doesn't cause you too many delays. That's why I really enjoyed my time in the navy, lots of travel and no airport hassels.

Dusseldorf is a great airport, especially since the rebuild after the fire in 1996. However, Frankfurt defeinetly has more to offer for airplane geeks like myself.

I'll defiantly have fun, I've still off work until Monday, so I've got lots of time. As long as I get a window seat, I'm good. Besides, since the flight was canceled on such short notice, EU air passenger rights states that not only do I have to be re-booked I am also compensated up to 650 Euros, so I'm not complaining ... hee hee!

Well, I'm all done packing and it's off to bed. Gotta get up in 3 hours to get to the airport. Be interesting to see what options I'll be given. It's good that they already canceled the flight in advance, it gives the airline time to come up with back-up plans for those passengers (especially those with intercontinental connections) flying out. Less hassle and time wasted at the check-in counter.
So, if I might be on again tomorrow depending on what happens, if not I'll see ya all in a couple of days ....

Made it back. Lufthansa ended up re-booking me on British Airways through London, so even though the strike in Düsseldorf lasted until 9am, everything (other than the long line-ups) went quite well. The original British Airways flight I was booked on from Düsseldorf wasn't supposed to leave until 12:30 but when I checked-in with them, they re-booked me on the first flight out just in case more strikes were to happen. So, I ended up flying out at around 11:00 getting into Heathrow at just after 11:00 (time zone change) which gave me about 4 hours before I had to be back at the airport for my flight to Vancouver. 4 hours was just enough time to grab the train to Paddington Station downtown London, find a pub and have a pint.
All in all, it was a good trip but, it's nice to be back home.A Grumpy German Is A Saurkraut!
