Platys really don't need heaters? My tank is probably a little too warm for mine then... Ohh, well they probably adjusted by now.

They can go either way when it comes to temperature. I have kept them at room temp (72F), and at higher tropical temps (up to 82F or so) and they do not seem to be bothered at either end. I think they are like goldfish in that they are eurythermal, fine in any temp, as opposed to true cool or cold water fish like trout and white clouds that are actually stressed at higher temps.

Hello all,
I could use a little help. I am new to having an aquarium and one of my female platys is hiding near the top of the tank in a corner in the floating plants. I think she is pregnant but not sure if she is ready to give birth. Some of the other Platys have been going near her and she chases them away. I don't see a gravid spot, but then again I did not see one when I first got the platys and another gave birth within a couple of weeks. What is a sure way to tell if she is pregnant and if she is getting ready to give birth?
