Robert Novak vs aquarium hobbyists

I know this is an old story, but i just got back into the hobby in Jan so I didn't know about this. I just can't believe what I'm reading. The sad part is that all these hobbyists would actually win, but they settle because they don't have the money to continue the legal fight. It basically saying you can sue anybody for anything, and they will settle because they don't have the money to fight back. Novak is the most pathetic excuse for a man. What kind of owner would sue someone for a bad review. Mostly all company has had a bad review, but they don't sink as low as to sue people for that. He also sue the woman who VOLUNTEE on the service that host the mailing list. He said the bad review led to "headaches, nausea, nervousness, anxiety, embarrassment, humiliation, and mental distress." BULLS***

HOW CAN HE DO THAT??!!! That absolutely makes me sick to my stomach...and the quote "freedom of speech isn't free" is so true these days. Unless your spouting something totally off base or untrue, how can you sue someone for saying something true?? Ugh......this has me really ticked off.
Just about as much as other situations of this degree that make innocent people out to be the bad guys. Just unreal.....

I was confused when you said Robert Novak. I was like... the same guy that walked off the CNN set? But no, I guess its a different guy.

This is BS. There was no libel or slanderous speech going on here at all. No defamation, anything. What a jerk!

The problem is any judge willing to side with a money grubbing jerk who gets mad because he can't run a business, no names mentioned. I guess if you want to talk bad about a company spell the name rong.

That's sad.
You can't say anything these days without offending somebody or something. And sometimes these harmless comments result in people being sued, just because they need some money right now.
People can sue for anything, and any comment anybody makes can be considered as offensive in court.

This is almost as petty as that stupid judge on a power trip, that tried suing a dry cleaning company for 50 something million dollars, b/c 2 of his suits were lost. They offered to refund the money, but no....he took it above and beyond. Thankfully the judge lost the law suit and lost his job on top of it.
