Breakthrough... almost
I decided to tie a 3 foot long ish piece of fishing line to a paper clip and hook that to a piece of shrimp (the paper clip is closed). My spotted pike/gar/needlefish which ever is the proper name has started showing interest in it now that he has seen my baby convict ripping pieces off of it. He came sooooo close to grabbing it but when Mr. Im a tiny convict cichlid comes to take a bite he darted to the other side of the tank... this is getting really frustrating lol.

He's getting closer.... Sooner or later he will have to eat something as he'll be extremely hungry.

He's been swimming around the shrimp like hes guarding it for the past 20 minutes. Im starting to think that maybe he smells it but doesnt recognize it as food because when he was at the LFS they were feeding him feeders and up until now hes been eating feeders.

That is probably the problem. He will eventually get hungry enough to eat it...... It will just take him time.. It is normal for a food change....
