So where was I??? Life is good, just busy. But thats me. If I am not booked solid I tend to worry about stuff too much. I don't know, maybe I have issues~LOL
Two weeks ago I went to the vet expecting to put my 13 YO Brittany down. One day, emergency surgery and $2,000 later I have a healty dog again. Seems the little flap that shuts off the lungs so a dog can eat and drink became paralyzed and stuck shut. So they cut her open and sewed it back and she is breathing well and prancing around again.
Today my puppy, a year old yesterday, went in for her "fixin" and that went well.
The 10 gallon tank I picked up on the side of the road ended up looking good too. I had an A/C 30 in the basement and used that until a bit of sand got up in the pump and it seized. Gave it a few good taps and then I missed and cracked the filter housing. So now we have a new A/C 20 on the system, picked up some mollys and we're in business. I used the fishless cycle which I have never done and wanted to try it. After setting up the tank I went down to the main floor of the plant and took a small vial of Ammonia. We go through about ??? oh somewhere around 4,000 gallons every 6 weeks. It is around 27% where household ammonia is 10%. I put a few drops in for a few days and then skipped a few days and did it two more times. When I checked it on day ....8 or 9 I had good levels of nitrites, high (40) nitrates and around 1 on the ammonia. I expected a high ammonia since it was added the day before. So not only did the fishless cycle work, I needed a water change after a week~LOL
PIcs will follow soon.
