Lord knows I don't have any issues with feeding predatory fish live foods, that is what our platy fry are raised for, oscar treats, but unfortunately, that video hit me the wrong way because they appeared to be doing something just for the amusement factor. When we feed live it is something our fish can eat as quickly as possible....not something they are going to play with and torture because they can't quite get it down. I had never considered feeding frogs to our oscars..and after that, I won't. Maybe I just have PMS and am too cranky! :)

It did seem a little cruel to me as well.

I agree with you, kimmers. It seemed they were having too much fun watching the frog get tortured.
This is my witty and clever signature. You like? :)

Yea, granted in the wild im sure a situation like that would arise at some point but in your home aquarium there is no need to torture innocent animals. If you want to feed your predatory fish live food, get something small that it can handle and wont torture to death.

I do apologize for that video and also the moment i was watching it i indeed felt horrid for the frog, to behonest i have troubles feeding live fish to my oscars anyway, i couldnt feed plattys to the, but the only live foods i will feed them are mosquito fish as they are a pest and are killing my native wild fish, alos any moths or mice that fill in nessecary to sit ontop of my tank i have no say in what happens, if older members would remember th story about the mouse that i tried to catch that jumped into my oscar tank

Originally my daughters had issues with feeding the platy fry from their fish to the oscars also, but they throw fry at us so often, in such plentiful amounts we would never be able to keep them. And they are so regularly available at local stores noone wants to purchase them....to find a private store we are talking 45-60 min trips and that just isn't feasible for the pennies we might get. So, if we feel up to rescueing them from the tank after birth....they go into a 10 gal, and when they get big enough, Bubba & Gump are happy oscars!

I have to do the same thing with some of the neon tetra fry my GF has. She just cant keep all 20 of them.
