make sure you have a top with no openings in it if you plan on raising frogs. this is where i went wrong. they will jump out. i don't think the tadpole food is more then a few dollars. it come is a little container the size of a betta food container, it's probably 4-6$

just put some small rocks and pieces of driftwood into a bucket off water and leave it in the sun for a week or two, till all the rocks and wood are covered with algae, then every couple of days get a rock or piece of wood out and place in the tadpole tank. they should feed of the algae

I had tadpoles once, I fed them algae that I collected from local ponds, and Hikari Algae Wafers. They love those things!

so the tadpole food at my lfs was only 1.50$ i fed that to guys till they turned into frogs. it depends one what the frogs eat based on what type of frog they are. if you got the tadpoles from an LFS chances are they are bullfrogs. look them up online. look up bullfrog tadpole and check out whether they are the same as your little guys. if not just look up different tadpoles till you find a matching one.
just make sure you got a screen on that tank.

these guys are bull frog tadpoles they are up to 2.5-3 long including tail.
the coloring is distinct from other tadpoles, if they are smaller and black they may be a different type of frog.
the head of the tadpole, if you will, is about the size of the baby frog. i think if you fed those guys some mosquito larva or blood worms the would eat them up, since that is what is most commonly found in their natural environment.Last edited by karbomb; 02-11-2008 at 06:09 AM.

I think they would still eat what you were giving them before, but if you want you can try live crickets, availible at almost any lfs. You'll have to feed crickets eventually if they get too big anyway.

AllRighty then. I went to put some lettuce in this morning for for my tadpoles to enjoy and WHAM there was a frog thing with a stub for a tail sitting on the filter top . . . OMG i caught a fly and put it in there .... next i'll follow your guys advice and find a pic on net ( he is browny black with a couple of gold stripes). My bro decided it is a frog and that it may be saved form the axoltl. YAY now to keep it alive
