    Default Vaccuuming eco-complete

    0 Not allowed!
I havent tried it in my new tank yet, but I am guessing that a lot of the smaller pieces of gravel will get sucked up in the vaccuum. This is my first time having eco-complete, should I be worried?

depends. most gravel vacs have a gaurd to block small pieces of rock from getting sycked up, but even so you will probably still end up sucking in a lot of the gravel. Just give it a try and what ever gets sucked up put back.

Yeah if you use the python no spill (best vac ever) there is a guard at the handle. The rock will go up the tube but stops at the gate inline.

When I vacuum my eco-complete I wave the vacuum back and forth above the substrate. In this way the mulm gets disturbed and is sucked up into the vacuum but the eco-complete stays.

EDIT: I do the same thing with my sand tank.
    8 tanks running now:
    1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

I wouldn't shove the vac down in the gravel either. You got eco-complete because you want plants so let the plants use what's in there for fertilizer. Just clean up the poo and food from the surface.

Good post Hobbs like her though I would barely sift through the gravel and let the gravel take of fertilizing the plants as it should.
