Are you sure she is pregnant? She could be bloated.

If she is pregnant and she appears to be very far along in it you could probably move her into a fry tank or breeding net.
Put up some pics of her.

are you sure she's pregnant or just fat? i have a platy that i thought was pregnant for a while but it turns out she's just a fat little piggy

she is definatley pregnant. She is REALLY big and has that black spot on her- the eyes of the babies. I had her in a net, but she wouldn't have babies, and it doens't look like she will. My mom doesn't like in her in there anyway.

First of all....i wouldn't put her into the net as it will probably stress her out. Do you have any live foods on hand you could feed her?? like BBS?? thats what i fed to my fat pregnant swordtail and then the next night i found like 12 fry in the tank.

i fed the whole 33g tank ALOT of BBS though.

just a suggestion. i think that their period thing (forget the fancy word...something like gestation period) is 6 weeks. But i could be wrong. It is fairly close though.

    just my $0.02

EDIT - maybe blood worms or something??

  6. Default

This is the food schedule (excluding the bottom feeder food)::::

    sunday: flakes, NLS, frozen tubifex
monday: flakes, NLS, freeze dried brine shrimp
    tuesday: flakes, nls, frozen tubifex
wednesday: flakes, nls, freeze dried brine shrimp
thursday: flakes, nls, forzen or live (not sure, came in a can, but it sort of floats around the water colum, so it looks live)
    friday: flakes, NLS, bbs
saturday: flakes, NLS, freeze dried bloodworms.

Hope that helps you. Is it a good schedule by the way?

first of all i think that you are feeding too much freeze dried foods. I would cut down on them.

For me i use my flake food everynight and about once a week they get freeze dried foods and some frozen foods and maybe live. But thats just on one day. and i vary which one i chose everyweek.

but if she has been pregnant for about 1 month she just might not be ready yet. mine was HUGE before she gave birth and i never thought that she was going to give birth..i thought that she was going to blow....but just be patient....it will come.....and it sound slike she is pregnant.

  8. Default

I will only feed the freeze dried shrimp one day and the bloodworms one day. I will just wait for the pregnant one.
