Shrimp for Coldwater Tank
Hi Everybody,
Other than glass shrimp (Palaemonetes sp.) what kind of shrimp can I get for a coldwater aquarium? The temperature may not fall below 68 degrees but most shrimp I read about want at least 72 degrees and higher.
Thanks,
Curt

cherries, crystal red, there are several that would do well. Some sources say best kept at 70+, but will do fine at lower temps.
Crystal red as an example, "bet kept at 70+" but I know several breeders that run chillers to keep them at 68

no problem. But if you want a shrimp that is going to have larvae "babies". then don't get the amano shrimp as the "zoes" (babies) need saltwater and phytoplankton in order to survive and make it to adult hood.

Cherries will also do fine at 68, I have a tank that is unheated, the temps regularly dip to 64-65.
btw, I have plenty for sale

Ecch, 35? I'd just want 4. Only a 15 gal tank.
