Great Powerhead?
I know we just had a thread on powerheads, but I saw the advertisment for this in a magazine today .....
http://www.riopump.net/new_products_...ario_desc.html
..... I think I found the powerhead for my Biocube ..
Haven't got a price for the system yet, but I'll see what I can find online.A Grumpy German Is A Saurkraut!

Pat ole man, those propeller-style pumps have been around for ages. They used to be noisy as hell, but I don't know if the newer models have overcome that problem. If you get it, tell me how it sounds.

Even such small ones that have alternating water current capabilties (among other goodies) and are fully programable?

I don't know about any noise issues, there are limited reviews of the product as of yet. About pushing water every 8 minutes, thats the preset feeding time. You can set the device to push water alternataly between 15 seconds and 30 minutes. Plus you can also program it to gradually increase the flow of water. Plus it only measures 3" x 6".

Now that's neato. Too bad its too small for my uses, but sounds like a very capable little pump. I wonder if its a mag drive motor in it, as those are dead quiet.

The one model is said to have a flow rate of 5500gph. The thing is that, from what I understand, is that they've been testing them for the last 2 years and still no release date, although many online stores in Europe (none in North America as of yet) have been taking pre-orders. Also, from what I gather, the whole unit (powerhead and controller) will be under $300.

Very neat!
I dunno though...I'm starting to think that some peoples' issues may stem from too much water flow in their tanks...esp. small tanks...
There's always that trend towards 'more is better'...but I can see too much flow in a tank creating issues...but of course, they wouldn't think to relate those issues to what they consider to be a 'good thing'.
Not anyone on this forum...just some of the reefers in general...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

I agree, many people do find that more is better, where as this may be true in some aspects, not in aquarium water flow rates. To find a perfect balance between flow rate and flow direction is not always easy.

For anyone who's interested in buying a Koralia or Turbelle NanoStream (such as myself) and has a bit of extra money to spend. The Polario seems like a very interesting option.
I'm really looking forward to finally being able to see one of these, but as I posted earlier, there are very few (if any) reviews as of yet.
Re-reading this post, sounds like a sales pitch ..... lol!A Grumpy German Is A Saurkraut!
