What kind should i get???

I am thinking of getting some shrimp for the 10g planted puffer tank.

I have done a little test to see if they will eat the shrimp or not and they have left the shrimp alone. These are ghost shrimp that i tested with.

What kind of shrimp do you think would look nice in the tank?? and isn't to small??

I really like my Red Cherry Shrimp. The females turn bright red and add nice color to the tank. The males are clearer in color but are more active than the females. They are fun to watch because they love doing laps around the tank - lol.

yeah they are cool.

Do you think that Rudolph shrimp would be ok in the tank?? even though they like to swim around alot???

I don't see why not but then again I don't have any experience with Puffers so I think someone else should give you advice on that. Shrimp are a nice addition to a tank if you have fish that pay them no attention. I hope you can get some!

well in the new year i have decided that i am going to get around 12 red cherry shrimp. Thats if my LFS can order them in...which i believe they can.

But the problem is, they EVENTUALLY will start to dissapear. Maybe your puffers didn`t eat them because they didnt see them, but the RCS stand out alot..

well the puffers went right up to the ghost shrimp and it looked like they wre smelling them or something and then the pufers just backed off. But i will try the RCS anyways and see how it goes...if they start to disappear then i can..do something with them. lol.

EDIT - there are also ALOT of places for the shrimp to hide where the puffers can't get. so i think that they might be ok.

I`still wouldn`t trust the puffers, just dont go spending to much on them at the beggining

Will you be adding 12 shrimps AND 4 ottos?

well ia m getting 2 otos for sure....but maybe 6 shrimp???

EDIT - or would that be too much???

Yeah id try 2 ottos and 6 shrimps. But dont forget the weekly water change.

I just thought you were getting 12 shrimps and 4 ottos..then you would of had a problem.
