Hey Folks! This is my first time ever joining a forum, but I've done a lot of reading on this site and am excited to finally post. I just recently moved and was finally able to finish my 55 gallon salt water tank build and setup. I am about 3 weeks into the cycle and finally got some hermit crabs. Will be adding fish this week. My two biggest concerns though are the noise issue on my downpipe and a small leak coming out of the overflow into that pipe. Im also seeing alot of salt buildup on the outside of my PVC. So before I get to far into the weeds, does anyone have any advice for how to quiet an overflow pipe? My tank is drilled in the back and has a single 3/4 inch pipe going down into the sump. I've got one of the fancy black silencer tops (the name escapes me) but its still quite loud. I noticed the leak today and its the fitting from my white pVC into the black fitting coming out of the back of the tank. Since I'm still just starting, does it make sense to redo the piping now? Or can i cut just the overflow and replace that? The photo shows the connection. Also, is my overflow box too small? I built the tank over 5 years ago and think i went with a 700 gph, but it might be 1K. The pump i have is 1100. Hopefully thats not an issue as i think i have good flow.

Tried to upload my photos but they didnt go through. will try again tomorrow.
