Aggressive cherry barbs
0
I've read tons of articles and blogs vouching Cherry Barbs to be among the most peaceful - but mine certainly aren't. And I do find this claim very uninformed. There are a number of posts I've come across where fish keepers report serious aggression from these fellows even in big schools and in large tanks!
I have 2 males and 4 females in a 20 gallon. Well planted and WC-ed regularly. There is one very aggresive cherry barb that keeps chasing every other very violently.
I would love to hear from others any advice on how to handle this.
- They are newly introduced - so do you believe it might stop after a while? I would love if so, because I do not want to return him to LFS.
- Or could it be something he'll keep doing? Then, I need to consider it when I add my pair of killifish and 5x otos later. Returning him might be the only way.
Thank you!

Welcome to the AC.
Is the aggressive cherry male or female?...at any rate, adding more will likely quell the aggression....I have a school of 10 or 12 in my 40B, none are aggressive, just a little chasing of the females by the males.
