    She's a seal point bi-color ragdoll.

I've been waiting patiently all summer (born 7/1) and during this time buying off and on all of the cat things I'll need. It's been many, many years since my previous 3 cats passed on. While I miss having my dogs, I know I don't want the winter snowy/icy walks anymore.

Have you named her, yet? She reminds me of a cream puff. I think "Cream Puff" would be a great name for her. What say you?

Her name will be Ava. I was supposed to get her today but that's delayed 2 weeks. She and her siblings went to the vet Tuesday for spay/neuter but the vet thought they were still just a little too small at 11 weeks. So they're going back 9/28 and hopefully all will go well then. If so, I'll pick her up probably 10/1 or 10/2.

Although disappointed, it strangely works out for me. This past Monday I had a sudden loss of hearing in one ear. Went to the ENT Tuesday and it was diagnosed as Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL), which can happen for no particular reason. So I've started on steroids and they scheduled an MRI on an urgent basis for this evening. So I was looking at either rescheduling the MRI (not the best move, I know) or rescheduling getting the kitten, as I didn't really want to have to leave her alone even for a few hours on her first day here. Although a neighbor said her 17 yr old daughter would probably love to kitten-sit. But with this delay, there's no conflict now. However, not looking forward to this MRI. ENT doc already told me it will be a bit uncomfortable, but necessary. I'll go back to him 9/28 for an additional hearing test and assessment. At my age, chances are not that good that my hearing will come back, but not impossible. He said the fact that I sought treatment within a day was a really good thing so I'm trying to stay positive.

Hmm. I've never heard of that condition. And it can happen for no particular reason? And in only one ear? Can you post a link to an article that gives more information about sudden sensorineural healing loss? I'd like to learn more about it. Thanks.

Here's one, but there are several others if you search SSHL

    https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/sudden-deafness

I didn't experience a "pop" or anything else. I had just run an errand, had my car washed, and then was hanging outside with a couple of neighbors. I just started to notice that I felt like I was speaking and listening inside a tunnel. Because we were standing a bit apart, it was sometimes difficult to distinguish where sounds were coming from. Kids playing across the yard sounded like they were coming from inside my house when I was standing on my porch. Later I tried blocking each ear separately, and realized my left ear heard nothing. I also sleep with a fan for the white noise but I sleep on my right side. As soon as I put my head on the pillow, I heard nothing - it was as if the power had gone off. It's a bit scary.

Fortunately, the ENT practice was able to see me right away. Many people wait it out a few weeks thinking it's allergies or something. This lessens the chance that hearing can be restored. But I have my age working against me so that's not too good.

Thanks for the link. That is one scary condition!

Ava is one very lucky little kitty-cat. I'll bet you'll love her to pieces.

    Such a sweet picture.
