Bristlenose do fine in warmer waters, even lower 80s.

Ground dwelling fish could be a group of corys. They are social so should be in a group of at least 8. The reason the tetras should be in bigger groups is because they shouw the best natural behavior in larger numbers, I know you are going to bump their numbers up-which is great.

That will depend on the tank parameters. I would also be concerned that the Severum may snack on them and the other smaller fished in the tank.

It wouldn't be a risk I would take, but everyone's different and you may get a good one.

lol, yeah they have pretty big mouths, but the Tetras he has are pretty tall bodied. I think they'll be ok. If he had slender fish, like neons, rummynose, or zebra danios (even giant danios), I'd be worried, but his fish should be ok.

The single male angel I had was front and center any time I was near the tank and even when he saw me coming down the stairs in the morning. There are different kinds, however, so maybe not all are so interactive.

Heck, now I'm considering a single angel for my 40B, lol.

It seems like perhaps the angel is the better option. Not only have I only ever seen a few severums around, but I wouldn’t want to risk losing any of my other fish. So here’s the stocking idea

1x Angel
10x BA
10x Pristellas
1x Bristle Nose
8-10x Albino Corys

What do you guys think?

Thats a great grouping. The albino corys (aenues) are very hardy and active, try for at least 10 if you can and they will be more confident and active in the tank. I had a group of them in my old 75 at the last house and was even able to grab a clutch of eggs off a leaf and grow my group of 12 to 27, plus give/sell some.

It's funny how things change with time. When I was a kid, my parents kept all kinds of things together, just adding single fish here and there. I remember them specifically having one angel in their tank and it lived for quite some time. With the internet and information at our fingertips, we start hearing stories about how fish live in the wild and how they should be kept in the tank, and then with experience we come to new/different conclusions, where what we used to do in the old days was actually ok. I could say the same things regarding water changes, filtration methods, etc.

Learning through experience is key. What works for some might not work for others, and while feelings can lead to certain conclusions, actual experience might yield different results.

Personally, I wouldn't put an angel in a 40B because of the height, although I know some people may. My 25g was 20" tall vs the 16" of the 40B. Now, if you replace the 40B with the 75g, then you're really good to go. Get several.

I don't have a lot of good pics when he was a full adult (now gone after almost 10yrs) but this one may give you some scale. He got a little bigger than that. I've also included his baby pic - they're so small and cute but depending on the species, can grow large.
